Herrick’s Library of Things can help with home improvement projects

Share

Cold weather often goes hand-in-hand with repairs. Tree roots that may have crept into underground pipes harden as the ground freezes, and start causing plumbing issues. Water might creep in from the ground below, or from above, as plumbing becomes more brittle or ice dams form in the winter months.

Wet flooring, drywall, and more might need to be ripped out and replaced. Cars groan in protest every morning, and sometimes dashboard indicator lights turn on.

Fortunately, Herrick District Library’s Library of Things has tools to help with these issues and more.

  • When you think moisture might be getting in, but you’re not sure where, check out the digital moisture meter.
  • Know where the moisture is coming, but need a better view of the source? Check out the inspection camera.
  • Installing drywall, flooring or making other improvements? Check out the laser measure, line laser with tripod, or stud finder.
  • Wondering about electrical problems? Check out the EMF ELF detector.
  • Air quality concerns? Check out the air quality monitor.
  • Unsure which windows to cover or where to caulk? Check out the thermal leak detector.
  • Indicator lights flicking on? Check out the OBD2 diagnostic code reader.
